Students in grade six were able to see electrons in action during our lab today. They built several different series circuits and recorded observations about the changes they saw when they added extra lightbulbs or batteries.
The picture at the left shows how bright the lightbulb became when it was powered by two batteries instead of one.
Next week, we will investigate parallel circuits and see if they act differently than series circuits.
In math, we have been learning all about ratios. Students have noticed a lot of similarities between them and fractions, and they are using some of the same skills from our fraction unit to create equivalent ratios. On Monday, students designed their own pattern with different colours and shapes and described it using part-to-part and part-to-whole ratios. All of their hard work makes a beautiful display to brighten up our classroom.
